The Vibe

Portmarnock is widely regarded as the fairest links in Ireland. There are no "quirky" blind shots or hidden gimmicks here; everything is laid out in front of you. The challenge lies in its subtle elevation changes and the relentless wind off the Irish Sea. It feels like a true cathedral of the game—traditional, prestigious, and demanding of your absolute best golf.

How To Book

The Dublin Elite: Portmarnock is a very traditional club but has a dedicated visitor booking portal. Weekday tee times are available, but they are strictly monitored. Mondays and Thursdays are often the best bet for international visitors.

Insider Tip: The club has a strict "no visitor" policy on Sundays. If you are staying in Dublin, try to book your Portmarnock round for a Tuesday or Wednesday morning to catch the links at their firmest.

Logistics

2026 Green Fee

Estimated at €325 for a peak round. They often offer "Links & Lunch" packages which provide excellent value given the quality of the clubhouse dining.

Closest Airport

Dublin Airport (DUB). Portmarnock is incredibly convenient, located just 20 minutes from the terminal, making it an ideal arrival or departure day round.

Tactical Strategy

The Final Four: Ranks as one of the toughest finishes in golf. The 15th is a long par 3 along the shore, and the 18th requires a massive drive to a narrow fairway to have any chance at the green.

Subtle Greens: Don't be fooled by the lack of massive undulations. The greens at Portmarnock feature subtle "half-breaks" that can frustrate even the best putters. Trust your caddie's line implicitly.
