Land in Melbourne, pick up the rental car, and head straight to the Sandbelt. Royal Melbourne's West course is Alister MacKenzie's absolute masterpiece in the Southern Hemisphere. Wide, rolling fairways lined by sweeping native heath brush lead to massive, beautifully contoured, firm greens. The course features MacKenzie's famous, sharp sod-walled bunkering snaking into putting surfaces.

Reciprocal Access Hack: Royal Melbourne is highly private. International visitors must arrange play through reciprocal club secretary introduction letters. Visitor times are strictly limited to select weekdays (usually Mondays/Fridays) and check-in checks are severe.

The Bunkering Perfection: Kingston Heath

The Massive Scale: National Moonah

The National (Moonah Course) 1h drive south to Mornington Peninsula Greg Norman Design

Drive south to the Mornington Peninsula. The National's Moonah Course, designed by Greg Norman, is set in rolling duneland. With vast sand dunes, severe elevation changes, and massive, wind-swept fairways, the scale of the course is breathtaking. Play is highly tactical under prevailing bay winds.

Access Protocol: The National is a private 54-hole facility. Access to the Moonah course can be secured by international visitors through reciprocal club secretary letters, or by booking their luxury on-site villas.

Transition to Tasmania's Dune Dunes

Flight MEL to LST (Launceston) 1.5h drive transfer to Barnbougle Check-in to Barnbougle Dunes

Take an early morning hopper flight from Melbourne (MEL) to Launceston (LST) in Tasmania. Pick up a Tasmanian rental car and drive northeast through scenic vineyards to the wild, wind-swept coast of Barnbougle. Check into your coastal cottage and settle in for offshore links play.
